[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e graduated college in May of 2008, married in August of 2008, and started our business in September 2008…. we know…. a little crazy for 22 year olds to do. But looking back, our youth was a blessing in disguise! In the middle of a massive recession, we took off into the unknown with a simple dream of providing for our future with a camera. We did not care what came our way as long as we can enjoy this adventure together. And here we are a decade later, blessed to have so many people trust us to photograph what is dear to their hearts.

We also enjoy those cozy rainy afternoons, reading books on the couch with Troubadour, our rag-doll cat, and AmyDog, our border collie by our sides! Our main family values are to be intentional, give selflessly, and don’t let the stresses of life spill into the sacredness of living.

Our Travels

If we had a month to spend to ourselves, we would be Paris – people watching by day and romantic dates by night. If we had a week, we would be exploring a wilderness together and spending the nights under the stars, by the fire, with some good bourbon. If we only had a night, we would go find some delicious food we haven’t tried and get lost in conversation. Regardless, every moment for us is a time to explore.

When I think back on our wedding, the photograph that I love the most is this one of Savannah. When I fell in love with Savannah, I first fell in love with her bright mind, kind thoughtfulness, and unwavering confidence. In this photo, I see that woman. In her focused eyes, I see her unending thoughtfulness can make an instant connection with anyone she meets; I see her sexy confidence in the way she is moving (her middle name is Grace – how perfect is that?!). She’s beautiful.

But I also see something that means so much – peace and calm. She told me she was a wreck until she saw me that day. But then everything faded away and she was at peace. She was at peace because she was confident in me, and felt safe when I am near. It’s a photo I will always cherish.

For our second wedding anniversary Philip gifted me a portrait session with some of our favorite photographers. I bought a new dress and he got a new suit and we celebrated who we had become as a couple. Of all the photographs from that session, this one impacted me the most.

You see any time I’m down, sad, or tired Philip will come behind me and wrap me up in his arms. He simply holds me until everything is right again in the world. Since this photograph was taken we both have changed. But one thing remains the same, anytime my husband wraps his arms around me I melt into him and I can rest completely knowing I am fully loved for who I am.
